Development Economics

Developing countries share a common set of challenges. Economists study a set of issues related to the developing country context that is diverse. These include issues related to human capital formation, household savings and investment, fertility and population, pollution, and health. In this course, we will examine classic papers in the field through a series of applied econometric exercises that will expose participants to important techniques used by modern scholars of development economics. Each student will also be expected to write a short paper using one of the featured methodologies.
