The Logical Structure of Child Language

Description: This mini-course focuses on aspects of the development of linguistic structures that contain logical expressions - including logical connectives and quantiers - in children from a cross-linguistic perspective. We will discuss children's scope assignment to disjunction in negative sentences; cross-linguistic dierences in polarity sensitivity and ramications for child language; the question of whether children comprehend logical expressions in the same way that adults do.
