Title: The grammar of the body in the emergence of a sign language

Abstract: In trying to account for the phenomenon of human language, four questions have increasingly occupied researchers in recent years:  (1) What properties distinguish human language from communication systems of other animals? (2) Is language a private mental capacity, or is interaction among people critical to creating language?  (3) Does the body have a role in determining language form?  (4) How did this complex and uniquely human system evolve?

Title: Expletive negation and only

Abstract: Contrary to the natural assumption that negative morphemes bring about truth-condition reversal, Hebrew sentential negation does not always make the expected contribution to meaning, just like other instances of expletive negation crosslinguistically.

Hebrew expletive negation is found in until-clauses (1) and free (headless) relative clauses (2).
