Academic Background and Fields of Interests

I am an M.A. graduate in History from the Hebrew University (2005). During my master’s studies I worked as a teaching assistant at the University’s History Department and as research assistant at the Institute for Advanced Studies. I am also a graduate of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School (2006).

I am interested in the historical and sociological aspects of Israeli film and television, especially concerning war films – fictional and documentary.


  • Ruthy Ablin Raveh (2011).“The Heroic Ethos in TV dramas shown on Israeli National Television (1968-1993).” Paper presented at the first academic conference on Israeli fictional television, held in January 2011 at Tel Aviv University.   

  • I am currently working on a paper about masculinity and self-sacrifice in Israeli film and television after the 'Six Day War' (1967-1973) which will be presented at a conference about army and gender to be held in January 2012 at the Hebrew University.
