Background and Fields of Interest


Yacov Netzer is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focuses on the intersection of audience participation, journalism and digital culture. His M.A. thesis concentrated on audience participation on news websites. Dr. Limor Shifman and Dr. Keren Tennboim-Weinblatt were his M.A. thesis advisors and continue to advise him while working on his Ph.D.

In his professional capacity Yacov has held a number of key positions over the past 25 years at Israel's top media group "Yedioth Aharonoth". Prior to becoming Vice Chairman of Yedioth Magazine Group he served as CEO of Ynet (ynet.co.il) - the most prominent news website in Israel.
