Interests and Institutions in the Global Economy (Undergraduate)

This course engages in a political analysis of actors and institutions in the international political economy. During the course we will learn conceptual and theoretical frameworks for analyzing the complex relationship between economic interest groups and governments, on the one hand, and domestic and international institutions, on the other We will use these analytical tools to delve into the historical development and the current situation of a number of key issues in the global economy. We will begin with the analysis of international trade and protectionism, we will continue a multi-national companies, capital flows, and economic development, and finish with the examination of the international monetary system and financial crises.
