Avner Neubauer
Avner Neubauer, 33 and father to four kids, is currently a Ph.D student In the Applied Physics department at the Hebrew university of Jerusalem.
In high school he majored in physics-mathematics and Jewish studies. During his IDF service Avner served as a company sergeant major in the air force rescue unit (669). He did his B.Sc in physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Avner is currently doing his PhD as a member of Prof. Paltiel research group where he also did his M.Sc.
During his M.Sc and also in his PhD, Avner's research focused on developing highly sensitive detector based on GaAs transistor. This transistor combines processes that are known in the semiconductor industry and materials with quantum properties like Quantum dots. This hybrid device creates new spectrum of sensing on the same detector (light, gas and more). Besides this unique option of the tunability for different fields, the detector shows high sensitivity for IR light detection which makes us believe that we can detect a single photon. This research aims to maximize the detector abilities.
