Moran Bin-Nun
Moran Bin-Nun, 25 & mother of three, is a M.Sc. student in the Applied Physics Department at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She was much younger when her mother convinced her to study Physics, and she fell in love with the subject. Thus, she decided to pursue the study of physics at university. In 2008, Moran graduated from Electro-optic Engineering at the Jerusalem College of Technology. In her first year of studies she received a scholarship for excellence. Her B.Sc. research project was for ELOP, Ltd. Company, to develop an automatic method for calculating the modulation transfer function (MTF) that helps indicate the quality of optical imaging devices. She also wrote a paper: "Edge Response Revisited" together with S. Lashansky, S. Mansbach, M. Berger, and T. Karasik, which was published in Proceeding SPIE 6941, Infrared Imaging Systems: Design, Analysis, Modeling, and Testing XIX, 2008. Moran is currently a member of Dr. Dan Marom's photonic devices laboratory, starting her M.Sc. Thesis in wave guides produced by polymers, where the core is doped with nano-crystals to obtain nonlinear effects. Ms. Bin-Nun's scholarship was donated by the Lipper and Grant Families together with the Peter Brojde Center.
