Naomi Elfassy
Naomi Elfassy is currently studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for her Ph.D. Degree in Applied Physics. Naomi grew up in Ramot, Jerusalem. She studied at the Torah & Arts High School in Jerusalem. Although majoring in arts, she was exposed to the basics of science and revealed her interest in mathematics and physics. She self-taught those subjects in order to pass the national matriculation exams (Bagrut). After her military service in the intelligence corps, she went to Germany to visit her family and began Diploma studies in math at the Konstanz University. She continued her B.Sc. degree studies in physics and math at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating with excellence. She joined Prof. Aharon Agranat's research group at the Department of Applied Physics to investigate tunable electro-holographic grating in KLTN crystal at the g44 configuration for her M.Sc studies. Under his supervision, she studied and developed the theoretical analysis for the diffraction at the g44 gratings, and performed experimental work on implantation of the grating in a waveguide configuration. She was awarded the Best Poster Presentation Award at the PR09 Conference in Germany for this work, and finished her M.Sc. studies with excellence. During her studies, she was a TA at the Department of Applied Physics. Naomi is currently a member of Dr. Yossi Paltiel's research group, starting her Ph.D. Thesis under his guidance on "Classical measurements of coherent quantum effects within hybrid organic-inorganic systems". Ms. Elfassy's scholarship was donated by Mr. Alex Soyka.
