Prof. Yuri Feldman

Head of the Dielectric Spectroscopy Laboratory in the Department of Applied Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Yuri Feldman

Prof. Feldman earned his M.Sc. Degree (1973) in radio physics and Ph.D. Degree (1981) in Molecular Physics from the Kazan State University, USSR. From 1973 to 1991 he worked at the Molecular Biophysics Laboratory of the Kazan Institute of Biology, USSR Academy of Science.
In 1991, he immigrated to Israel and has been with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since then, where he is currently a full Professor and the Head of the Dielectric Spectroscopy Laboratory.

In 1992, the Ministry of Science and Art in Israel acknowledged his work with an award for outstanding scientists and in 1998 he received the Kaye Award for the best innovation and invention – the Time Domain Dielectric Spectrometer.

Having spent over 30 years in the field, he is an internationally acknowledged expert in the area of soft condensed matter physics and dielectric spectroscopy, and has published more than 250 scientific works related to dielectric spectroscopy and its applications. In addition, he holds 10 patents in the area of Dielectric Spectroscopy and its applications.

Prof. Feldman is a Secretary and Member of the International Dielectric Society Board, and an associated board member of the Dielectrics Group of the Institute of Physics, UK. His current interests include broadband dielectric spectroscopy in frequency and time domain; theory of dielectric polarization and relaxation; relaxation phenomena and strange kinetics in disordered materials; dielectric properties of biological systems.
