This paper contends that most definitions of what comprises a “high technology” industry are based on only one defining characteristic. It is argued that an adequate definition needs to be based on a multi-dimensional view of technology and a methodological approach is suggested for classifying industrial sectors into “technological profiles” on the basis of the various aspects of technology that they embody. Based on this methodology, an empirical study based on sub-branches of Israeli industry (at the 3 digit SIC level) is presented. Using cluster analysis and analysis of variance it is shown that the technological profiles have similar industrial, and not just technological, characteristics. The policy implications of these findings point to the need for a definition of “high technology” that caters to the policy needs and objectives for which it is being defined.

The importance of the narrative parole to descriptive grammar is (esp. in a written or dead language) greater than that of dialogue, because of the heavier contribution of pragmatic factors and circumstances in the latter case; that is, in narrative these are “segmented” and cotextually given and the “environmental” factor is therefore much more considerably textual. This makes the book under review so important as a comprehensive component study of Egyptian grammar in general and an account of the Old and Middle Egyptian verb in particular. […]
Chicken sperm chromatin initiated an assembly of interphase-like nuclei in a cell-free cytoplasmic preparation from 1-6 h old Drosophila melanogaster embryos. The formation of these interphase-like nuclei from the condensed sperm chromatin happened in a series of distinct steps. Anti-Drosophila lamin monoclonal antibody stained the assembled nuclei in a pattern indistinguishable from normal Drosophila nuclei. This assembly process required an ATP regenerating system and could be blocked by the addition of novobiocin into the cell-free extract.
Maple syrup urine disease is a rare inborn error of metabolism that manifests mainly by neurologic deterioration, coma, and death in early childhood. Oral manifestations described in this article were mostly gingival enlargement and rampant caries, while histopathologic findings revealed a picture compatible osteomyelitis.
