My lab focuses on human memory and learning. One of the central questions we investigate concerns the dynamics of prior knowledge influences on the acquisition of new knowledge, within the framework of the Complementary Memory Systems; we are particularly interested in understanding the interplay between two key opposing contributors to memory and learning: repetition and novelty. Tools used in our lab include behavioral experiments and fMRI brain imaging.
