I am a neuroscientist, professional programmer, and have been leading the development and research of novel interventions in applied brain plasticity, which are also used in this project [1]. As a behavioral neuroscientist, I gained training and expertise in designing and conducting behavioral and electrophysiological studies in humans, focusing on understanding perceptual learning processes and the brain mechanisms related to cognitive and perceptual improvement [2]. As a senior scientist at the Brain Plasticity Institute and at Posit Science (and Director of R&D since 2014), I have initiated and led several NIMH and foundation supported projects in PI capacity, developing and applying computerized and mobile cognitive interventions designed to treat mental health deficits [3], which are relevant for this project. I successfully managed all aspects of these grants, including program design, personnel supervision, research protections, budgets, scientific collaborations, and produced several peer-reviewed publications from these projects. I shall bring this expertise to successfully achieve the goals of the proposed project. Finally, I have been serving as a co-investigator at a large, multi-lab DARPA funded project (Project PI: Dr. Edward Chang), dedicated to treat severe mental health illnesses as depression and anxiety, using a combination of behavioral techniques and brain stimulation.
