My current research focuses on neurometabolic disorders. I am exploring new potential pharmacological tools for curing neurological and neuromuscular Glycogen Storage Disorders (GSDs) such as Adult Polyglucosan Body Disease, Lafora Disease and Pompe Disease. My research focuses on different types of molecules (peptides, lipids and small molecules) and on designing new assays for detecting insoluble glycogen. In addition, I am studying the bioenergetics and metabolism of synthetic lipids as a therapeutic strategy for treating brain cancer. I believe that my work and research interests are relevant for the JBC as they deal with diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Moreover, neurometabolic disorders is a unique discipline which is less familiar to other JBC members. Therefore, I believe that my participation in the JBC can lead to mutual exchange of knowledge and will thus benefit both me and the JBC.
