Professor Huppert’s work is aimed at developing the optimal psychosocial treatments for anxiety and related disorders (social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder and specific phobias). He has authored or co-authored over 75 peer-reviewed articles and chapters. He conducts studies on the process and outcomes of cognitive-behavioral treatments for anxiety disorders. In addition, he researches the nature of cognitive biases, or the way that anxious individuals process information, and methods to modify these biases. Finally, Professor Huppert examines the impact of the co-occurrence of other types of psychopathology such as depression or psychosis on anxiety and their impact on treatment. Professor Huppert’s work has significant implications for the translational and applied levels, and he hopes that his work will assist many in obtaining relief from the suffering and impairment that they experience due to pathological levels of anxiety.
