Biomembranes

Together with the lab of Nir Keren, we found that Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cells and their membranes, yeast and Sf9 insect cells show strong correlation X-ray scattering peaks associated with the lamellar structure of their membranes. Those lamellar structures seem to obey some of our fundamental findings on charged membranes

We have also investigated the structural changes in desert crust cyanobacteria in the hydrated and desiccated states.  In addition,  phycocyanin was isolated from the thermophilic cyanobacterium Thermosynechococcus vulcanus and was found to be in three oligomeric states: hexamer, trimer, and monomer. The oligomeric state concentration increased with the concentration of phycocyanin.
